If you watched the Winter Olympics earlier this year, you may have recognized two familiar faces on the Czech women’s hockey team: current Warrior Dominika Laskova and former Warrior captain Katerina Bukolska. The pair were the first-ever players to represent Merrimack women’s ice hockey in the Olympics.
The Beijing games also marked the Czech Republic’s first Olympic appearance for women’s hockey. Supported by Laskova and Bukolska, the team topped China 3-1 in their Olympic debut and went on to secure a win against Sweden, but was ultimately knocked out of play by Team USA in the quarterfinals.
