Wall Street. State Street. Turnpike Street. Students at the Mucci Capital Markets Lab in the Girard School of Business are playing in the big leagues using two dozen Bloomberg terminals to get the same real-time stock market information and honing their chops as professional traders.
Since 2014, students have been getting hands-on experience with real-world financial industry tools at the lab and managing over $400,000 in the Merrimack Investment Fund (beating the S&P 500 since 2018). This year, they launched the Merrimack Alternative Investment Fund focusing on blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies.
Undergrads at Merrimack are getting Bloomberg Certified, and diligently preparing for the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam—the initial license in the financial services industry—before they graduate. That means they are hitting the job market with the sought-after skills employers will pay for.
How do we know that our students are the best in the business? They’ve shown their savvy over the past three years at the Quinnipiac GAME Forum, where they’ve consistently placed first or second.
