Since its 2021 release, Emma Duffy-Comparone’s short story collection, Love Like That, has received high praise from Vogue and Kirkus Reviews. An assistant professor of English at Merrimack, Duffy-Comparone brings an authentic understanding of what it takes to publish fiction to her courses, exposing students and aspiring writers to the realities of life as a working author.
Similarly, artist Jonathan Latiano divides his time between directing the Studio Arts Program at Merrimack and creating socially conscious, elaborate sculptures in his studio in Boston. His works have been shown in New York, Philadelphia, London and beyond.
As part of Merrimack’s dual mission to educate students and prepare them for their professional lives, professor-practitioners like Duffy-Comparone, Latiano and others bring invaluable experience from outside the academy to our students.
